Positive Images
A film-making group and a forward-thinking women's prison have teamed up to bring integrated health to a very unusual setting.
Prisoner, Eastwood ParkI can see a completely different way for myself. Something’s clicked. I can do something for someone else as well as myself.
The project involves working with women prisoners to produce audio visual material, examining different aspects of healthy living – such as going to the gym, eating, relaxation, mental health issues and self-harm. The finished films are distributed within the prison via the psychology, counselling and mental health education units. Martin Gill, development officer for Positive Images, said: 'The award is generic for our various projects in Eastwood Park. Considering we were a small, new project, competing with some large established organizations, we think that this is fantastic news.'
