Stronger communities on quieter streets

A Bristol study suggests that people on quieter streets have more friends in the neighbourhood.
Joshua Hart, a researcher from the University of the West of England has explored the networks of friendships on three Bristol streets, graded for the levels of traffic on each. He found that people on the busiest street had only a fifth of the local friends of those on the quietest.
Hart says 'it seems that community and quality of life have been neglected whilst planning and transport policies have led to a massive growth in motor vehicles in the UK.'
