The train journey was very comfortable and clean. Team building took place with late night games of ' Mousey Mousey' and healthy political discussions. I think having western women on the train was a bit of intrigue for some of the other passengers. We eventually got to sleep to arrive nine hours later in Beijing.

After checking into the hotel and having breakfast and a quick tidy up we set off again.

We had a tour of the old town. Following this we went to The Beijing Yu Sheng Tang Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum. This is a private museum set up by the descendants of the Bai family in 1999.The Bai family have owned a herbal drug store for 400 years set up during the Ming Dynasty (1608AD)

We had a a most informative guided tour by the director Zhang Cui. The museum exhibits statues of medical sages, traditional Chinese medical instruments from different dynasties and samples of herbal medicine. Do have a look at their web site www.yst1608.com

Following this most interesting visit we went back to our hotel to prepare for our evening meal at The China Club of Beijing. This most wonderful evening at this most beautiful private club had been arranged by Feifei Hu from the Prince’s Trust, Matthew Hu Director of the Chinese Heritage Protection Centre. We were extremely well looked after by Kay Tang Membership Manager. All the delegates had a wonderful evening and returned to the hotel for a good night sleep before our visit to Xijuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences on Friday
