Physical exercise can help people quit smoking, study shows.

Researchers from the University of Toronto in Canada found that physical activity at all levels can reduce nicotine cravings.

Even a regular brisk walk could assist someone trying to give up cigarettes, the findings suggest.

The study looked at a group of around 20 smokers who were assessed after engaging in exercise. They were asked to fill in questionnaires which rated their levels of cravings. The researchers found 10 to 15 minutes of physical activity reduced cravings for at least 20 minutes.
