Training centres for school cooks are being launched across England to ensure primary school lunches meet strict new nutritional standards.

Children's Secretary Ed Balls hopes that the training centres will help dinner ladies across England brush up their skills and learn to prepare nutritious meals for children from fresh ingredients.

The initiative formed part of the Government's drive to improve school dinners after TV chef Jamie Oliver launched a national campaign against junk food three years ago.
