FIH launches student network
The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health has recently launched an exciting new initiative called the Integrated Health Student Network. The aim of this network is to provide a forum for medical and complementary medicine students to explore the field of integrated health.
Luke Maddocks, a Medical Student at UCL and a Student lead for the project said:
‘Many patients choose independently to use integrated healthcare therefore it is important that we can prepare for this as future healthcare practitioners, so that we feel confident about supporting and advising our patients. We feel that exploring a more collaborative approach will enable us to achieve this.
‘We also believe that through this network we can explore the key issues surrounding integrated health such as developing an evidence base for certain therapies, better familiarisation with each other’s fields and gain a better understanding of what integrated health is and its potential for healthcare’.
Kate Fismer, a Naturopathy Student at Westminster and a Student lead for the project said:
‘The idea of the network began as we sent up our of student societies to encourage medical students and complementary therapy students to meet and explore some of the issues surrounding integrated health. We began to find groups of other students around the country that had all started to explore the same things. This made us realise the need for an initiative like this. Feedback has been really positive and we already have seven student champions signed up from medical schools and universities across the UK.’
For more information about the network or to sign up (membership will be FREE) please visit www.fih.org/student or email us a studentnetwork@fih.org.uk.
Members will automatically be entitled to enter our prestigious £500 essay competition – the winner will be announced at our conference early next year.
