Dear Colleague,
Welcome to the January edition of FIH news, and a happy new year to all readers.
We've sifted over 100 entries to our integrated health awards to produce a shortlist of 23.  Over the next few weeks, we'll be visiting them all, and bringing you photographs and stories from some of the UK's most innovative healthcare projects.
In 2009 we're also planning to extend and strengthen our ties with healthcare professionals.  This month we'd like to invite General Practitioners to sign up for our free network.  Over the coming weeks, we'll be extending the scheme to include CAM practitioners, nurses and pharmacists.
We explore the widening use of two complementary health approaches. Art Therapy has historically been offered to people suffering from mental health issues.  Val Huet, Chief Executive of the British Association of Art Therapists tells us how its use is widening.  Meanwhile Dr Raj Sharma describes his work as a hypnotherapist at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital.
Manufactured herbal medicines will need a licence or a traditional use registration to be sold in the UK from April 2011.  Find out about the changes and explore further links.
