Dear Colleague,
We start the new year with a new website.  We'll be bringing together interviews with healthcare professionals, scientists, campaigners and patients, as well as news, blogs and debates from across the integrated health field.  Over the coming months, there will be growing opportunities to add your own comments to the site.
We'll also be describing our own work.  This month saw the announcement that the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council will be launching in April, offering new protection for the public.
2008 also sees the launch of our new events programme - from specialist events for healthcare practitioners to talks and debates for policy makers.

Debates: Is it possible to practise integrated health on the NHS?
We'll be carrying regular debates on our new website, exploring some of the most contested areas of integrated health. In this edition, Dr Julia Piper, a private GP in Leicestershire and Dr Roy Welford, an NHS GP in Glastonbury, argue about whether it's possible to be a good integrated practitioner on the NHS. Read their arguments, and join the debate.

The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council launches in April
How can we tell which complementary practitioners are well qualified in their field and behave appropriately towards their patients? The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, launching in April, will offer a public register of approved practitioners - and somewhere to complain if things go wrong.

Follow the tribulations of our blogging GP, Dr John Moore, as he strives to deliver patient-centred care in his London practice. In this installment, he finds that two nearly identical cases of back pain call for very different approaches.

The Natural Health Service
'Is our yearning for nature like our appendix: a redundant item to be ignored or removed, or do we really function less well and even become ill when removed from contact with nature?'
Dr William Bird, Strategic Health Advisor for Natural England, explains why the NHS is becoming interested in the healing power of nature.
