Welcome to our August newsletter. While many holiday, the political case for integrated health is developing in interesting ways. Complementary therapies make top billing at the King's Fund. They have just produced a report based on their consensus conference, which we supported in 2008. It explored what is needed to make best use of complementary approaches in medical care. They concluded that a deeper understanding of placebo and a greater breadth of research methods are the key to change. Meanwhile the government have announced that they are considering statutory regulation for herbalism, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, which would put all three professions into the same regulatory framework as osteopathy and chiropractic. We also look forward to a host of September events, including a free guided tour of the CAMLIS library in Central London. All are welcome. September also sees the launch of our network for students interested in integrated health.
