Boo Armstrong joins Foundation for Integrated Health
Campaigner Boo Armstrong joins The Prince’s Foundaton for Integrated Health as Head of Integration and Development.
Best known for leading a successful, large scale project in Northern Ireland which demonstrated that patient outcomes were improved by integrating selected complementary therapies with conventional treatment, she will focus on developing better links between complementary practitioners, practising clinicians and NHS policy makers.
'We have common aims', she said, 'and we need to work together to achieve them so that patient care is improved whether within the NHS or outside it'.
Ms Armstrong is the founder and director of Get Well UK, which campaigns for better access to quality assured complementary therapies. She is a trustee of the British School of Osteopathy, a member of the National Clinical Audit Advisory Group and an advisor to Women’s Parliamentary Radio.
David Brownlow, the Foundation’s Chairman, said:
'The enthusiasm, breadth of knowledge and energy that Boo brings to the Foundation means we will be able to move forward swiftly to achieve better, more patient focused healthcare for everyone.
'That isn’t about more complementary therapies in isolation. It is about allowing professionals to focus on the needs of their patients – which might or might not include access to non-conventional treatments – and encouraging patients to take responsibility for their own health. Boo’s experience and expertise will be a huge asset in making that happen.'

1. The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health was founded by the Prince of Wales in 1993. Its principal aim is to make sure that all patients can access good integrated healthcare. That means treating patients as whole human beings – paying attention to body, mind and soul. It may include access to proven complementary therapies, but the Foundation does not suggest that is necessarily the best course of action for all conditions and all patients.
