Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust
A programme teaching art with people who've experienced stroke.
StART are not art therapists, but their work often brings purpose and hope to people who've experienced brain injury. Patients can begin on StART programmes within days of being admitted to hospital. Others may choose to participate in programmes when they are rehabilitating at home.
Some find themselves rediscovering a talent which they hadn't explored since they left school. The programme offers all sorts of materials from clay to paint and paper.
What sort of organisations run these programmes?
StART have thrived because of a good relationship between the programme organisers and local hospitals who have been impressed with the effect on patients.
