The Sara Lee Trust
Providing complementary therapies in palliative care
Most clients at the Sara Lee Trust have a cancer diagnosis, although they do also see people with HIV/AIDS and motor neurone disease. The Trust provides complementary treatments and psychological support. Access to the service is via healthcare professional referral. The organisation particularly emphasises contact with nature - their spa days take place in a beautiful house at Penshurst surrounded by acres of countryside.
What kind of organisations can do this work?
Run by a charity, this is an excellent example of palliative support in cancer care. The Trust welcomes referrals from GPs in the area. You can read more about the atmosphere and the experiences of patients who use the Sara Lee Trust here.
