Journeys - Depression Busting
A programme helping people be proactive in managing their depression.
Many with depression may find themselves sinking into a passive state - waiting for up to a year for talking therapies or other interventions if drugs such as Prozac aren't instantly effective. It's easy to lose work, purpose and sometimes relationships in the fallout from depression.
Depression Busting is a programme put together by former sufferers from depression to help people make proactive choices. The work includes social groups, healthy eating and living advice plus exercise and suggestions about situations and choices to avoid. Depression busting groups are now beginning to receive referrals from GPs.
What sort of organisations run these groups?
This project evolved from a Depression Alliance group but is now a separate organisation with its own programme, including a set of advice tapes.
