EcoDysgu - EcoLearn
EcoDysgu combines healing, good food and practical projects at a run down farm in the midst of a big wood on the outskirts of Bridgend.
It has received glowing reviews from police, social workers and teachers who have seen the lives of young people transformed by a very different approach to learning. It's also strongly supported by the Welsh Assembly.
What sort of organisations get involved in this work?
EcoDysgu's work bears some comparison to Care Farming - a growing movement which allows people excluded from society to do useful work and build confidence. But EcoDysgu's particular combination of therapy and nature work is probably unique.
Julie Lyddon says to anyone contemplating something similar 'you will need nothing less than courage, determination and
faith in yourself and others to succeed in bringing about the change that is now
needed in the world.' They are open to work with many organisations for young people in Wales - contact the project to find out more.
